International Conference on Africa’s Democracy …building a governance system that works in Africa for Africans
What Is ICAD?
The International Conference on Africa’s Democracy (ICAD) 2025 will convene over 350 African leaders, policymakers, thinkers, faith-based actors, researchers, social innovators, civil society actors, and youths to ask critical questions, share homegrown ideas and offer alternative futures for governance and development that’s rooted in African realities.
The ICAD goal is simple: to create a sustained platform for critical conversations on African governance and development and influence policies that promote economic sovereignty and sustainable development in Africa.

Across Africa
From the Sahel to the Great Lakes, from the Horn to the Gulf of Guinea, a new generation is asking bold questions.
Who will fund Africa`s development?
If GMO`s are safe why are many rejecting it and should Africa follow blindly?
Why can’t Africans travel without bottlenecks within their borders?
Why do our natural resources power foreign economies, while our people struggle with energy poverty?
The Africa we want cannot be outsourced. It will be built by Africans. The time is NOW.

Why ICAD?
By 2050, 1 in 4 people on earth will be African. Africa holds 60% of the world’s arable land but spends $43 billion yearly importing foods.
Over 490 million Africans live in abject poverty. Annually an estimated 12 million young Africans join the labor market with only 3 million jobs created.
These statistics are not just numbers, they reveal a deeper structural problem and calls for urgent attention.
At ICAD we believe that Africa’s progress must be led by Africans, for Africans and the time is NOW. We are championing continental solidarity in pursuit of dignity, development and democratic accountability.
